Maya World is going to miss some time in AEW.
According to Fightful Select, the former TBS Champion underwent a procedure over the past week and had to pull out of some dates she was booked for. Internally, the expectation is that she’ll be back soon, though no timeline has been set yet.
Fightful did not specify what kind of procedure it was. As she recovers, World also wasn’t expected to appear on the Wednesday, September 16 episode of Dynamite in Norfolk, Virginia.
World’s last AEW match came just last week, on the September 9 Rebel Heart episode of Dynamite. She teamed with Hyan and Thunder Rosa in a six-woman tag against Britt Baker, Hikaru Shida and Persephone, who picked up the win.
The absence comes just over two weeks after World’s first TBS Championship reign ended. She won the title from Shida at Redemption on July 26 and held it until August 30, when Persephone won the rematch on the All In: London Buy-In. Baker made her return in that match and interfered.
Before that, World made it to the finals of the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament after stepping in for Sareee and beating Skye Blue and Athena. Mercedes Moné won the whole thing, defeating her at Forbidden Door in June.
