Kenny Omega has made it clear that his in-ring career is not over after losing the AEW World Championship to Will Ospreay in the main event of All In: London at Wembley Stadium.
During a recent appearance on Hikaru Shida’s YouTube channel at the Tokyo Game Show, Omega talked about the physical toll the match took on him and acknowledged that age is starting to affect his performances. Even so, he said he plans to return to the ring.
“It may have been the hardest match of my career. Of course, I’m getting older. So my strength is gradually going away. I’m getting weaker. I’m still very proud of my performance. I couldn’t be more proud of our champion, Will Ospreay. Because it’s not the end. Please support me next time, too!”
Omega has not appeared on AEW television since All In on August 30, when Ospreay defeated him after nearly 35 minutes with a Hidden Blade to capture the AEW World Championship for the first time.
The loss ended Omega’s second reign as AEW World Champion. He had won the title on July 8 by defeating MJF on Dynamite: Beach Break and held it for just over seven weeks.
The physical wear Omega described is not solely age-related. In April, he revealed that he had come back too soon after a serious bout of diverticulitis and was still working to fully regain his energy and conditioning. The illness kept him out of the ring for all of 2024.
While Omega remains off television, Ospreay already has his first major title defense lined up. He will face Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship at All Out on September 26 at the NOW Arena in Chicago.
