A negative update has emerged on The Rock’s possible match at WWE WrestleMania 43. The Final Boss apparently won’t be wrestling at the event, which takes place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in 2027.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the main issue is a new Rock movie. Filming is expected to start in December and could go on for several months, which would leave little time to train for a match.
Still, Meltzer said the Saudi side has strong interest in seeing The Rock wrestle at WrestleMania 43. A non-wrestling appearance is still possible, even though a match is considered unlikely.
WWE is also already well into its creative plans for the show. Nick Khan said this week that the company already has its plans well in place, though anything could still change due to injury.
As previously reported, Roman Reigns vs. Oba Femi is currently considered the top match planned for night two of WrestleMania 43.
The Rock last appeared on WWE programming at Elimination Chamber 2025, where he was part of John Cena’s heel turn. He hasn’t been back since, despite constant speculation about his return.
