WWE is once again facing heavy criticism following the latest episode of SmackDown, which took place Friday night in Providence, Rhode Island.

The backlash stems from LA Knight’s match, as he competed in the final Fatal 4-Way Match of the first round of the King of the Ring tournament against Jey Uso, Finn Bálor, and Royce Keys. The tournament winner will earn a world title shot at SummerSlam.

However, Knight once again came up short in a match that could have catapulted his WWE career.

In the closing moments, Solo Sikoa appeared and hit Knight with a Samoan Spike, giving Royce Keys an opening to nearly pick up the win. Before the count could be made, Jey Uso hit an Uso Splash on both men and won the match.

The loss angered several fans on X, mainly because of the feeling that Knight continues to be used to move storylines forward, but never in a way that benefits him.

Some fans argued that WWE is still wasting his popularity instead of using it to elevate him to another level.

With the win, Jey advances to face Je’Von Evans in the King of the Ring semifinal. If he wins, he will face either Oba Femi or Dominik Mysterio in the final, keeping alive the plan for him to challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
