Finn Bálor revealed an unusual detail about Roman Reigns, a man he has shared the ring with at several key points in his WWE career.
During a recent appearance on Peter Rosenberg’s Cheap Heat podcast, Bálor discussed the oil wrestlers apply before matches. He said he uses a small amount himself and joked that he has locked up with opponents so slippery they felt like dead fish.
When Reigns’ name came up, however, Bálor had something else to reveal.
“Listen, whatever about how much oil Roman uses, I want to go on the record just saying whatever oil it is, it smells delicious.”
Bálor also looked back on the first time he faced Reigns. It came on July 25, 2016, the night of Bálor’s RAW debut, and he beat Reigns in the main event to earn a shot at the newly created Universal Championship at SummerSlam. Bálor went on to become the first Universal Champion.
The two would meet again in a major feud in 2021. Reigns defeated Bálor in a Universal Championship match on SmackDown and, weeks later, beat The Demon at Extreme Rules after the top rope famously broke and kept Bálor from hitting the Coup de Grace.
Bálor is coming off a loss on the September 25 episode of SmackDown, where CM Punk qualified for the Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match by winning a Triple Threat Match that also included Gunther. Reigns, on the other hand, remains World Heavyweight Champion, with LA Knight lined up as his next challenger.
