Tony D’Angelo will get a chance to regain the WWE NXT Championship. He defeated Myles Borne in the main event of Tuesday’s NXT to earn a title match against Grayson Waller at Halloween Havoc.
The main event was closely contested, and both men had real chances to win before D’Angelo put Borne away with Dead to Rights.
The race for the No. 1 contender spot began last week, when D’Angelo and Borne confronted Waller and demanded a title shot. Waller himself suggested the two face off to determine his next challenger.
D’Angelo will try to win back the title from the man who took it from him. Waller became champion at NXT Heatwave on Aug. 30 by winning a Fatal 4-Way match that also included Zilla Fatu and Cruz Montana.
After Tuesday’s main event, Tavion Heights surprised Borne by revealing himself as one of the cameramen. Heights attacked Borne and threw him onto a table, continuing the feud between the former partners.
NXT Halloween Havoc is set for Oct. 31.
