Hikaru Shida will have another major AEW TBS Championship defense on tap at the promotion’s next pay-per-view. The champion is set to defend the title against Maya World at AEW Redemption in Montreal.

The match was made official after the main event of Saturday’s AEW Collision. Shida put the title on the line against Queen Aminata and retained the belt with a roll-up, her feet propped on the ropes without the referee noticing.

After the match, Shida attacked Aminata from behind and used a kendo stick to strike her knee. Maya World ran in to stop the champion from continuing the attack, and Shida left the ring.

World grabbed the kendo stick and signaled that she wanted a shot at the title. Tony Khan officially confirmed the match for Redemption a short time later.

Shida won the TBS Championship on July 1, defeating Kris Statlander, Maika, Harley Cameron, Persephone and Queen Aminata in a Survival of the Fittest match for the vacant title. She has since defended the belt against Cameron and Aminata.

Maya, meanwhile, has been building momentum in the women’s division. The young wrestler beat Skye Blue and ROH Women’s World Champion Athena during the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament before falling short against Mercedes Moné in the final at Forbidden Door.

AEW Redemption will take place Sunday, July 26, at the Bell Centre in Montreal. It will be the first edition of the company’s new pay-per-view and the third defense of Shida’s current reign.
