Hiromu Takahashi may be close to starting a new chapter in the United States, with his name reportedly being discussed internally in WWE for a possible move to NXT.
According to Fightful Select, Takahashi is viewed as “the big rumored one” among free agents or talent who could land on the company’s radar in the coming months. Still, his signing has not been confirmed.
Speculation picked up after Takahashi’s official departure from NJPW. New Japan announced in February that he would be leaving the company after The New Beginning in Osaka, which took place on February 11.
Another factor drawing more attention to the situation is EVIL’s recent arrival in NXT. The former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion debuted for the developmental brand as Naraku, adding to the perception that WWE remains interested in major names from the Japanese wrestling scene.
Takahashi was one of the top names in NJPW’s junior heavyweight division over the past decade. He held the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship five times and won Best of the Super Juniors in 2018, 2020, 2021, and 2022.
