Baron Corbin may be very close to returning to WWE nearly two years after leaving the company.
The wrestler, whose real name is Tom Pestock, had been working the independent scene as Bishop Dyer after his WWE contract was not renewed in November 2024.
Before leaving WWE, Corbin had spent 12 years with the company, where he won the United States Championship, the NXT Tag Team Championship, and the 2019 King of the Ring tournament.
According to Fightful Select, Pestock has wrapped up commitments with several companies he had been working for regularly. That includes MLW, where he was part of The Skyscrapers alongside Donovan Dijak.
Behind the scenes, the current belief is that Corbin has either already re-signed with WWE or that a deal is close to being finalized.
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio had recently noted that Corbin’s return had been heavily discussed internally in WWE, though there was no definitive confirmation at the time that a deal was done.
One interesting detail is that Meltzer also speculated Corbin could be used in some kind of storyline involving Danhausen, who recently appeared working on a larger creation in his lab. For now, however, that should only be treated as speculation.
During his time away from WWE, Pestock tried to distance himself from the Baron Corbin image, even saying in an interview with Chris Van Vliet that he wanted to build something new with Bishop Dyer. Even so, all signs now point to the company potentially preparing his return soon.
As of now, WWE has not officially confirmed Corbin’s signing or his return to programming.
