Ilja Dragunov Gets Another Strong Endorsement for Potential AEW Move

Kyle Fletcher wants Ilja Dragunov to join AEW and would welcome another match against the former WWE star.

“I think he would be an incredible fit at AEW,” Fletcher said on the Battleground Podcast.

The former AEW International Champion praised Dragunov’s intensity and passion for wrestling. Fletcher said both men have grown as wrestlers since working together in 2019 and that a match between them would be very different today.

In a separate interview with Adam Barnard of The Sportster, the Australian said he was excited about the possibility of facing Dragunov again after so many years.

Fletcher and Dragunov shared the ring multiple times on the independent scene, including at PROGRESS Chapter 100 in December 2019, before Dragunov established himself in WWE.

Dragunov officially left WWE in August after his contract expired. WWE removed him from its internal roster and moved his profile to the Alumni section of its website.

WrestleVotes Radio reported that a source within AEW believes the company will be interested in negotiating with the former NXT Champion, if talks have not already begun. The same source indicated that Dragunov could appear for Tony Khan’s promotion if negotiations move forward.
