Backstage Reaction to Kofi and Austin Creed’s AEW Arrivals

Kofi and Austin Creed are off to about as perfect a start in AEW as anyone could ask for. The duo debuted as The New Level, captured the AEW World Trios Championship alongside Swerve Strickland at All In: London, and by all accounts left a strong impression backstage.

According to PWInsider Elite, Kofi and Creed went out of their way to introduce themselves and speak with nearly everyone they came across backstage at Wembley Stadium. AEW personnel and talent were reportedly very impressed with how the former New Day members carried themselves.

The report notes that despite spending over a decade in WWE, neither showed any hint of an ego. Both were described as extremely approachable on a personal level and very open when it came to the creative side.

One source summed up the impression the pair left:

“They are everything you always heard about, plus more.”

The backstage reception lines up with what the wrestlers themselves said during the post-All In media scrum. Creed said he came into AEW with some natural concern about adjusting to a new locker room but found a roster that was extremely welcoming.

“We walk in and everybody’s with open arms and so happy we’re here.”

Tony Khan also expressed strong enthusiasm about bringing them in. The AEW president said Kofi and Creed made it clear during negotiations that they plan to work a heavy schedule for the company, with the goal of appearing regularly on both Dynamite and Collision.

That heavy workload kicks in immediately. Kofi, Austin Creed, and Swerve Strickland will defend the AEW World Trios Championship this Wednesday on Dynamite against The Rascalz.
