Jey Uso is still alive in the King of the Ring. On Friday’s WWE SmackDown, “Main Event” Jey defeated LA Knight, Finn Bálor, and Royce Keys, securing the final spot in the tournament semifinals.
The match was the final bout of the men’s first round and featured heavy involvement from Jimmy Uso. The closing stretch came when Knight tried to put Keys away, only to get hit with a Solo Spike from Sikoa. Keys then hit the Ultimate Spinebuster and appeared to be closing in on the win, until Jey came off the top rope with a splash and pinned Knight to win.
With the result, Jey will face Je’Von Evans in the semifinal. On the other side of the bracket, Oba Femi will face Dominik Mysterio.
The winners will meet at Night of Champions on June 27, with the winner earning a world title opportunity at SummerSlam.
Earlier in the show, Jey had already made it clear to Cody Rhodes that he plans to win the tournament and challenge him for the Undisputed WWE Championship at SummerSlam. Cody responded by saying he hopes that choice is truly Jey’s, and not Roman Reigns’.
In the women’s division, Charlotte Flair also advanced in the Queen of the Ring by defeating Jade Cargill, Sol Ruca, and Lyra Valkyria. She will now face Liv Morgan in the semifinal, while IYO SKY and Raquel Rodriguez will battle for the other spot.
