John Cena, who has watched LA Knight’s rise up close over the last few years, weighed in on Knight’s chances of beating Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship at WWE Money in the Bank.
During a recent appearance on Busted Open Radio, the now-retired Cena acknowledged that Reigns heads into the match as the heavy favorite. Still, Cena would not rule out an upset.
“I never say never, and that’s coming from someone who lost to Kevin Federline.”
The line was a reference to the January 1, 2007, episode of RAW, when Federline beat Cena after interference from Umaga.

Cena also said he sees WWE’s current creative team as more responsive to fan reaction. In his view, Vince McMahon stood firm on the decisions he made, while Triple H takes a more open approach and could even change the finish of a match at the last minute if the moment called for it.
Even so, Cena stressed that the odds remain in Reigns’ favor. Cena said he has great respect for Knight, with whom he has discussed in-ring psychology and fundamentals, but placed Reigns among the greatest in pro wrestling history.
Reigns is set to defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Knight on Saturday, October 10, at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.
