Kelani Jordan’s first defense of the NXT Women’s Championship is set. WWE confirmed on Tuesday’s NXT that Jordan will defend the title against Jaida Parker next week.
Jordan won the championship at NXT Heatwave last Sunday, defeating Kendal Grey. The win ended Grey’s reign and gave Jordan her first run with the world title.
On this week’s show, Jordan came to the ring to celebrate her win and was interrupted by Parker. The challenger cited her submission victory over Nattie at Heatwave and said her progress over the past several months put her in position to challenge for the title.
Parker pushed for the match to happen on the spot, noting she had beaten Jordan before. Jordan accepted the challenge but told Parker she wouldn’t get to pick the date, setting the match for next Tuesday’s NXT on September 8.
The two have wrestled twice on NXT this year. Parker won the first match at Madison Square Garden on March 31, and Jordan evened the series at NXT Revenge on April 14.
The NXT Women’s Championship won’t be the only title on the line next week. Jackson Drake will also defend the NXT North American Championship against Tavion Heights.
