Kelani Jordan won the WWE NXT Women’s Championship at Heatwave, defeating Kendal Grey to capture the title for the first time.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Jordan discussed the backstage reaction to her win, saying even people she wouldn’t consider her biggest supporters have given her credit.
“To my face, everyone has said that I’ve earned it. Even the people who may not be my biggest fans, they did say I earned it, and they can’t deny my ability in the ring and my journey to get here.”
Jordan joked that she’s not sure the conversation stays the same when she’s not around.
“But behind my back? I don’t know. If I find out, it’s not gonna be good.”
“I got messages from other main roster people, like Roxanne. Maxxine messaged me. Also, Chelsea Green messaged me. It’s so cool—they’ve been through what I’m going through, and they reached out to me. And Kiana James shouted me out also!”
Jordan’s first title defense is already lined up. On this week’s NXT, Jaida Parker confronted the new champion and earned a shot at the NXT Women’s Championship for next Tuesday.
Jordan and Parker have recent history, with the two splitting their singles matches this year at one apiece.
