Sami Zayn finally reached the top of WWE. In the main event of Saturday’s Night of Champions at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Zayn defeated Cody Rhodes and Gunther to win the Undisputed WWE Championship.
The match carried major stakes for all three names involved. Rhodes entered as champion, Gunther was looking to end his chase for the title once and for all, and Zayn was trying to capture his first world championship in WWE.
As expected, the match moved at a fast pace. Rhodes, Gunther and Zayn all hit their biggest moves throughout the bout, and the fight eventually spilled to the outside, where both commentary tables were destroyed.
In the end, the decisive moment came when Cody tried to hit Zayn with the Cross Rhodes. The Canadian escaped at the right moment, countered into a roll-up and scored the pinfall to win the title.

With the victory, Zayn captures his first world title in WWE in one of the biggest results of his career.
The win also closes a symbolic recent chapter for Zayn in Saudi Arabia. In January, at the Royal Rumble, Zayn was defeated by Drew McIntyre in the same country, losing his undefeated streak in the Middle East.
Now, just a few months later, he leaves Riyadh as WWE’s top champion.
