Kenny Omega is back on top of AEW. In the main event of AEW Dynamite Beach Break, held at The BayCare Sound in Clearwater, Florida, the “Best Bout Machine” defeated MJF to win the AEW World Championship for the second time in his career.
The match carried a major stipulation. If Omega lost, he would never be allowed to challenge for the AEW World Championship again. MJF added the condition last week after defending the title against Mark Briscoe and being confronted by Omega.
The match featured several cheating attempts from MJF. Late in the bout, Will Ospreay appeared to stop him from using the Dynamite Diamond Ring. With the referee distracted, MJF hit a low blow and nearly won the match, but Omega kicked out.
In the end, Omega hit his finisher and scored the pinfall victory, ending MJF’s reign.
This marked the third AEW World Championship match between Omega and MJF. The first took place in 2023 on AEW Collision, where MJF won. The second came earlier this year at AEW Dynasty, where MJF won again after using the Dynamite Diamond Ring.
The win also changes everything for AEW All In London. Before the match, Ospreay was set to face MJF for the AEW World Championship at Wembley. With the title change, the match is now Ospreay vs. Omega.
