Add as a preferred source on Google Kenny Omega is set to make his first AEW Dynamite appearance as AEW World Champion this coming Wednesday, July 15.
During this Saturday’s AEW Collision, the company announced that Omega will have a big celebration for his title win. The show takes place at the MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston, Massachusetts.
Omega climbed back to the top of AEW this past Wednesday during the Beach Break special, when he defeated MJF in the main event. Had he lost, the Canadian would never have been able to challenge for the AEW World Championship again.
Will Ospreay played a key role in the finish, stopping MJF from using the Dynamite Diamond Ring. Omega seized the opportunity, hit three V-Triggers, and put him away with the One-Winged Angel.
This is the second time Omega has captured AEW’s top title. His first reign began in December 2020 and lasted 346 days, a mark that still stands as the record in the championship’s history.
The champion’s next big challenge will come against Will Ospreay in the main event of AEW All In, set for August 30 at Wembley Stadium in London.
Along with Omega’s celebration, Dynamite will feature Andrade El Idolo vs. Jake Doyle. If he wins, Andrade will earn a shot at Mark Davis for the AEW National Championship.
