Kyle Fletcher picked up one of the biggest wins of his career on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite: Beach Break, held at BayCare Sound in Clearwater, Florida.

The Don Callis Family member defeated Konosuke Takeshita to win the AEW International Championship for the first time.

Tensions between the two had been building since Double or Nothing, when Takeshita defeated Kazuchika Okada to become International Champion again. Later that night, Fletcher returned from injury, hugged Takeshita, raised his hand, and then attacked him, ending ProtoShita for good.

On Dynamite, Takeshita and Fletcher worked a closely contested match. Don Callis became a major factor down the stretch, knocking Takeshita down as he went for the Power Drive Knee. The defending champion still managed to fight back and hit Raging Fire, but Fletcher later escaped and delivered a brainbuster onto the turnbuckle before scoring the pinfall victory.

With the result, Takeshita’s reign came to an end after just over a month. After the match, Fletcher celebrated alongside Don Callis and the rest of the stable.
