Liv Morgan left WWE Night of Champions empty-handed on Saturday, June 27, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The Women’s World Champion was defeated by IYO SKY in the Queen of the Ring final, missing out on the chance to leave the show with the crown and another world title opportunity at SummerSlam.
Before the match, however, Morgan had an unexpected issue with Danhausen. He appeared on the entrance ramp and was interrupted by the champion, who accused him of owing money to The Judgment Day. After denying any involvement, Danhausen placed a curse on her.
Moments later, the match took place, with SKY winning after hitting an Over the Moonsault. After the bout, SKY was crowned by Nick Aldis and made it clear that she intends to challenge Morgan herself for the Women’s World Championship at SummerSlam.
On the Night of Champions post-show, Byron Saxton asked Morgan whether the curse may have played a role in her loss.
“No, no. Byron. Byron. Byron. Byron. Byron. Byron. I’m not cursed. Byron. I’m not cursed. Byron. Byron. He was just joking. I’m not cursed. I’m not cursed. Byron. I’m not cursed.”
When asked about defending the title against SKY at SummerSlam, Morgan quickly corrected Saxton:
“Retain. Because I am the greatest women’s World Champion of all time, Byron.”
Saxton then brought up the possibility of a curse again, once more irritating the champion.
“There’s no curse. Do you understand me, Byron? There’s no curse. There’s no curse. Danhausen does not have powers. It’s not real. There’s no curse. Excuse me, I have to go call Dominic. Okay, I’m gonna go call Dominic. There’s no curse, Byron.”
