Add as a preferred source on Google IYO SKY is back in the hunt for a WWE world title. At Saturday’s Night of Champions, held at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the Japanese star defeated Liv Morgan to win Queen of the Ring.
The match carried extra weight because Morgan entered the event as the Women’s World Champion. That meant SKY had to beat the champion herself to secure her spot at SummerSlam, in addition to winning the crown.
The closing stretch was the key point of the match. SKY survived Morgan’s pressure and took control after hitting a Spanish Fly. Moments later, she went to the top rope, connected with the Moonsault and scored the pinfall to win the tournament.

After the match, SKY made her choice for the biggest event of the summer clear. The new Queen of the Ring announced that she will challenge Morgan for the Women’s World Championship at SummerSlam.
SKY reached the final by defeating Roxanne Perez, Giulia and Lash Legend in a Fatal 4-Way Match in the first round before getting past Raquel Rodriguez in the semifinals. Morgan, meanwhile, had defeated Becky Lynch, Alexa Bliss and Chelsea Green before beating Charlotte Flair in the semifinals.
In the men’s tournament final, Oba Femi also came out on top. The Ruler defeated Jey Uso with the Fall From Grace to win King of the Ring, earning a world title opportunity at SummerSlam.
