Lyra Valkyria put on one of the most impressive matches of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event this past Saturday, July 18, at Madison Square Garden, when she defeated Bayley despite suffering what appeared to be a serious injury to her nose.

The injury occurred within the first few minutes of the match. Bayley went for a forearm strike but caught Valkyria flush on the face, and Valkyria immediately began bleeding.

Referee Danilo Anfibio briefly halted the action while the medical team checked on Valkyria outside the ring. A significant amount of blood was visible on the floor, but the match continued.

Even badly hurt, Valkyria still managed to survive a Boston Crab and several more of Bayley’s attacks.

In the final moments, Bayley went for the Bayley-to-Belly, but Valkyria escaped and locked in the Saka Otoshi. The former WWE Women’s Champion lost consciousness, forcing the referee to stop the match by submission.

After the match, Valkyria went right back after Bayley. She reapplied the submission, knocking her former partner out for a second time, then threw her into the steel steps.

As of this writing, WWE has not confirmed the severity of Valkyria’s injury.
