Jelly Roll may be Danhausen’s mystery partner at WWE Backlash, which takes place this Saturday, May 9, in Tampa, Florida.
In recent days, many fans had linked CM Punk to the match, largely because of his real-life friendship with Danhausen. According to the Self Made Session, however, Punk is not currently scheduled to appear at Backlash.
Now, Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer reports that backstage speculation has shifted toward Jelly Roll. Alvarez made it clear that he has not been able to confirm the information, but said the singer would make more sense than Punk making an unannounced surprise appearance at a premium live event.
The possibility is not coming out of nowhere. Jelly Roll has already been involved in recent segments with The Miz, Kit Wilson, and Danhausen himself. In March, he defeated Wilson on SmackDown after hitting him with a chokeslam, while at SummerSlam 2024, he worked alongside Miz and R-Truth against A-Town Down Under.
At Backlash, Danhausen is scheduled to face The Miz and Kit Wilson in a tag team match, provided he can produce a partner. The feud has picked up steam after weeks of chaos on SmackDown, with attacks, traps, and segments centered around Miz’s house.
WWE has not officially confirmed Danhausen’s partner as of this writing. Backlash will take place at Benchmark International Arena in Tampa, with Roman Reigns also set to defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Jacob Fatu.
