CM Punk is not expected to be Danhausen’s mystery partner at WWE Backlash, despite heavy speculation over the past few days.
The possibility gained traction after Danhausen publicly began searching for an ally to face The Miz and Kit Wilson at this Saturday’s premium live event in Tampa.
According to Self Made Pro, however, Punk is not currently scheduled for the show. The report circulated after the former World Heavyweight Champion became one of the fan-favorite picks for the spot.
Danhausen himself leaned into the bit on social media, calling on names such as “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker, AJ Styles, and John Cena, while offering “400 human dollars” for someone to come out of retirement and join him.
The feud began on the most recent SmackDown, where Miz pretended to accept Danhausen as his apprentice before attacking him with Wilson’s help. Afterward, Aldis gave the “Very Nice, Very Evil” star a chance to get payback.
Punk has not appeared on programming since the April 20 episode of RAW, where he had a verbal confrontation with Cody Rhodes after losing the World Heavyweight Championship to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 42.
Backlash will take place on May 9 and will also feature Roman Reigns against Jacob Fatu for the World Heavyweight Championship, IYO SKY against Asuka, Seth Rollins against Bron Breakker, and Trick Williams defending the United States Championship against Sami Zayn.
