Sheamus is getting closer to leaving WWE, but not everyone inside the company has accepted the situation without pushback.
According to WrestleVotes Radio, via Fightful Select, a high-level member of the WWE office reached out to TKO to advocate for Sheamus staying with the company. That person’s identity was not revealed.
“WrestleVotes learned that an unnamed high-level member of the WWE office went to TKO and ‘went to bat’ for Sheamus. That individual dove into the value that Sheamus brings to the company that stretches beyond his in-ring contributions.”
The effort wasn’t enough to change the outcome, though. Sheamus is expected to leave WWE after turning down a restructured contract extension. The key point is that he wasn’t released — he simply chose not to accept the new terms he was offered while sidelined with an injury.

The situation stands out because Sheamus is regarded backstage as one of the most respected names in the company, not just for his in-ring career, but also for his positive influence in the locker room and the reputation he’s built over nearly two decades.
Per the update, a source close to Sheamus believes he’d be open to working with AEW, including on a short-term deal, if the right opportunity comes along.
Sheamus hasn’t wrestled since the November 17, 2025 episode of RAW, when he teamed with John Cena and Rey Mysterio to take on Dominik Mysterio, Finn Bálor and JD McDonagh. He underwent shoulder surgery shortly after.
