WWE has updated Bobby Roode’s status on its official website, more than four years after his last match for the company.
The former NXT Champion was removed from the current roster page and moved to the alumni section. But he still works behind the scenes as a producer, so the change does not mean he has left WWE.
Roode’s last match was a loss to Omos at a live event in Amarillo, Texas, on June 25, 2022. The neck surgeries Roode later had to undergo left his in-ring future in doubt.
Even so, he was medically cleared to return in 2024. Roode, now 50, showed no interest in resuming his wrestling career and chose to stay in his new behind-the-scenes role.

His work as a producer now carries significant weight inside WWE. Road Dogg said earlier this year that Triple H relies heavily on Roode. Triple H, WWE’s head of creative, has said himself that he asked Michael Hayes to help with Roode’s development in the role.
More recently, Roode worked with Shawn Daivari to produce CM Punk vs. Sami Zayn on the Sept. 11 episode of Friday Night SmackDown. Zayn won the Undisputed WWE Championship that night.
WWE has previously moved other names between sections of its official website to reflect a change in status. AJ Styles, for example, was moved from the alumni section to the Hall of Fame section.
So far, neither WWE nor Roode has announced any change to his contract.
