Maya World had the biggest night of her AEW career at Redemption, defeating Hikaru Shida on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at the Bell Centre in Montreal to capture the TBS Championship for the first time.

Shida spent much of the match attacking World’s knee, forcing the challenger to survive for long stretches. Down the stretch, the champion connected with three running knees and a Falcon Arrow, but World got a hand on the bottom rope just before the count finished.

Believing she had won, Shida began celebrating. When she realized the match was still going, she argued with referee Paul Turner and turned her back on World. World capitalized on the mistake with a Bridging Fallaway Slam for the win.

The victory came on World’s 24th birthday and ended Shida’s first reign with the title at 25 days. Shida had won the vacant championship on the July 1, 2026, episode of AEW Dynamite in a Survival of the Fittest match, then defended it against Harley Cameron and Queen Aminata before the pay-per-view.

After the match, Shida had to be escorted from ringside by security. Her reaction suggested the rivalry is far from over, even as World left Montreal with the TBS Championship in hand.
