MJF is back on top of AEW. At Double or Nothing, held Sunday at Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens, New York, he defeated Darby Allin to reclaim the AEW World Championship.
The match was contested under a Title vs. Hair stipulation, with Darby putting the title on the line while MJF risked having his head shaved if he lost.
With the win, MJF becomes AEW World Champion for the third time, ending Allin’s first reign at just over one month.
Allin had won the title at AEW Dynamite: Spring BreakThru on April 15, defeating MJF at Angel of the Winds Arena in Everett, Washington.
Since then, Darby had been working as a true fighting champion, racking up defenses against names such as Tommaso Ciampa, Brody King, Kevin Knight, PAC, Konosuke Takeshita, and Mike Bailey. His seventh defense came just days before the pay-per-view, against Bailey, on the special Dynamite and Collision broadcast.
