MJF, who returned to the top of AEW last weekend, revealed an important detail about the control he has over his own image in pro wrestling.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the new AEW World Champion said he has both “MJF” and “Maxwell Jacob Friedman” fully trademarked.
“I have it fully trademarked, both options.”
Friedman then pointed to that as an important difference in how AEW operates.
“We are definitely a more workers’-rights-focused professional wrestling company, and that’s not me taking a shot, it’s just a fact.”
Public records back that up. The “Maxwell Jacob Friedman” trademark was registered in 2019 for entertainment services related to wrestling performances, while “MJF” was registered in 2022, covering merchandise such as T-shirts, hoodies, and accessories.
