Myles Borne has responded to Grayson Waller taunting him by showing up on WWE NXT in a Stephanie Vaquer T-shirt.
Vaquer is Borne’s girlfriend, and the shirt came up during a recent interview with Borne.
Speaking with KRON4’s Korey Smith and Tor Smith, Borne said Waller spent money trying to get under his skin but ended up helping Vaquer. He also said the shirt drew more attention than anything Waller had to say.
“He literally went out and spent his own hard-earned money on her T-shirt,” Borne said. “All you did was put money on our table. You put food on our table that night. Thank you, I appreciate it. If you thought you got me, that’s not getting me. You’re a contributor. You’re a fan at that point.”
Borne also addressed the reaction to the shirt.
“I hate to say it, but everyone took away the t-shirt,” Borne said. “You wore a T-shirt, and no one cared about what you were saying; they cared about the T-shirt. At the end of the day, like it or not, she’s a bigger star.”
Borne added:
“Wear the T-shirt if you want to; I really don’t care. You can put food on our table. If you thought you got me, you didn’t get me.”
Waller wore the shirt on the October 13 episode of NXT, when Borne was set to face Tony D’Angelo in a No. 1 contender’s match for the NXT Championship. Waller used the appearance to taunt his potential challengers.
As previously reported, Waller revealed on Notsam Wrestling that he had another shirt made with a photo of Vaquer inspired by a famous Shawn Michaels pose, but he did not end up wearing it on TV.
Waller told Sam Roberts he likes to stir up controversy with his shirts, but he draws the line at taunts that go too far and wouldn’t add anything to what happens in the ring.
Waller is set to defend the NXT title against D’Angelo at Halloween Havoc on Saturday.
