Steven Borden continues to improve after his major scare at AEW All Out. Tony Schiavone said Borden was no longer experiencing headaches or dizziness when the two spoke by phone.
Schiavone made clear, however, that any diagnosis has to come from AEW‘s medical team. He was speaking on a recent episode of What Happened When.
“I talked to Steven just yesterday on the phone and he was fine. He had no headaches, he had no dizziness. As far as a diagnosis is concerned that has to come from our doctor because I’m not – I can’t make that, but I can tell you by talking to him, he said ‘I’m fine.’”
As previously reported, Borden and Kevin Knight collided in midair during the tag team match that also involved Darby Allin and Kyle Fletcher. Borden hit his head in a frightening fall, and the match was stopped afterward.
After the pay-per-view, Tony Khan said Borden was awake and responsive at the hospital. Borden’s CT scan and other tests came back with good results.
Schiavone also said Borden had never been through anything similar, even after years of playing football at the University of Kentucky.
“He did tell me ‘Of all the years that I played football for the University of Kentucky’ he said ‘I never had a concussion, I never experienced anything like that’, and he was more upset that he thought he ruined the pay-per-view by what happened.”
For now, Schiavone does not know when Borden will be able to return to the ring.
“How long is he gonna be out? I don’t know, I’m sure they’ll have to check on him before he can get back in there.”
