Add as a preferred source on Google Nikki and Brie Bella have named AJ Lee and Paige as their favorite opponents to face as a team.
During a recent interview with Variety, The Bella Twins were asked about the opponents they most enjoyed working with as a duo. Nikki said the four had chemistry in singles matches and tag team matches, along with a storyline that she believes is not given enough credit.
“We had incredible chemistry in the ring and you don’t get that with everyone whether it was one versus one or tag. And then we had just great stories. There was so much there. And I feel like us four never get enough credit for our storyline going into that WrestleMania. People couldn’t wait for that match and everything just really flowed. There was a lot of emotions, a lot of investment, connection.”
Brie said the history between the four added more depth to the program.
“Yeah, there was definitely a lot of depth to the storyline and I think it was years of these little stories we all had throughout working each other and definitely the chemistry. That’s a big part with your opponent is having good chemistry, which we all did.”
The storyline led to AJ Lee & Paige facing The Bella Twins at WWE WrestleMania 31 on 3/29/2015. The match was announced on 3/9, one week after Lee returned to Raw and helped Paige fight off Nikki and Brie following a Divas Championship match.
AJ & Paige won when Lee forced Nikki to submit to the Black Widow.
