Add as a preferred source on Google Brie Bella says she broke her scapula at WWE SummerSlam and will be out of action.
The WWE Hall of Famer sustained the injury during Saturday’s six-woman tag at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. She and Nikki Bella teamed with Paige in a loss to Fatal Influence.
Brie joined Nikki in turning on Paige after the match, but she continued protecting her injured shoulder and left Nikki to handle most of the attack.
Triple H said during the SummerSlam post-show that Bella received treatment at the stadium before being taken to a hospital for scans. Nikki later said on Busted Open Radio that her sister was in a lot of pain while awaiting a diagnosis.
Bella shared the diagnosis in an Instagram post Monday, thanking fans for their messages and saying she plans to return after recovering.
“I wanted to thank you all for sending me all the love, warm wishes and prayers. When I was sitting in the hospital, I was reading everything you guys were sending my way, love you all!!! Unfortunately I’ll be out for a bit. I broke my scapula. If there’s one thing I know about my sister and I is that we don’t let broken bones stop us. Not sure how I finished that match, but I do believe between the adrenaline, passion for the business and the love for all the women I work with, it gave me the drive to finish. Now my new journey starts!! Buddy said he’s going to be my assistant, Birdie‘s going to be my nurse and they both told me that daddy is going to be my personal chef, so I am set!! if there is one thing I know about Brie Mode, she always finds a way to come back to her wrestling home. Let the recovery begin.”
The injury comes just over six months after Bella returned as a surprise entrant in the women’s Royal Rumble. She went on to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship with Paige at WrestleMania 42 before dropping it to Fatal Influence.
Brie did not provide a return date.
