Joe Hendry has been off WWE television for close to a month, but his absence has nothing to do with an injury. It’s tied to a new project within the company.
According to PWInsider’s Mike Johnson, Hendry has been filming the first project to come out of WWE’s partnership with ReelShort. He’s set to appear in a live-action micro-drama produced specifically for mobile devices.
No details about the storyline or Hendry’s character have been revealed at this point.
The partnership was officially announced on July 14. At the time, WWE confirmed Joe Hendry, Drew McIntyre, and Jacob Fatu among the talent involved, alongside ReelShort actors Marc Herrmann and Chase Mattson. Filming was expected to begin in August, with a release targeted for early fall.
Hendry last appeared on Raw on July 27, performing a concert segment alongside Danhausen. Both were jumped by Dominik Mysterio, JD McDonagh, and Ryan Garcia, with Garcia nailing Hendry with a guitar before The Judgment Day completed the beatdown.
There is currently no announced date for Hendry’s return to WWE TV.
