Ripley became the face of SmackDown after defeating Jade Cargill at WrestleMania 42 to regain the WWE Women’s Championship. Since then, WWE has been working through several possibilities around her title reign, with names such as Cargill, Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, Michin, B-Fab, Tiffany Stratton, and Chelsea Green in the mix.
On the June 12 episode of SmackDown, Charlotte Flair defeated Sol Ruca, Lyra Valkyria, and Jade Cargill in a Fatal 4-Way Match as part of the Queen of the Ring tournament, with Tiffany Stratton and Alexa Bliss helping neutralize Michin and B-Fab. Later in the show, Cargill attacked Stratton.
Ripley’s situation, however, raises questions. Recent reports indicate that the champion is dealing with an injury, leaving her status for Night of Champions and SummerSlam uncertain.
