Rhea Ripley could have a major challenger for the WWE Women’s Championship at this year’s SummerSlam, which will take place on August 1 and 2 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

According to False Finish, WWE has internally discussed the possibility of having Ripley face Jacy Jayne at the premium live event. However, the match is only in the discussion stage at this point, with nothing locked in.

The possible matchup comes at an important time for the women’s division. Ripley is coming off a successful title defense against Jade Cargill at Clash in Italy, where she retained despite Jade having B-Fab and Michin in her corner during the match.

Jayne, meanwhile, has been positioned as one of the division’s top names since Fatal Influence arrived on the main roster. The group, made up of Jayne, Fallon Henley, and Lainey Reid, debuted on SmackDown by attacking Paige, Brie Bella, Charlotte Flair, and Alexa Bliss.

That same night, several weeks ago, Jayne faced Ripley in a non-title match, but the bout ended without a winner after Henley and Reid interfered. Since then, the group has remained involved in the brand’s top rivalries.

Jayne is a two-time NXT Women’s Champion, a former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion, and has also held the TNA Knockouts Championship.

As of now, WWE has not announced any matches for SummerSlam.
