Rhea Ripley has become a source of concern in WWE. During this Friday’s Friday Night SmackDown, the company announced that the current WWE Women’s Champion suffered a knee injury at Clash in Italy.
According to the update delivered at the start of the show, Ripley is undergoing medical evaluation to determine the severity of the issue.
So far, there is no word on whether she will need to miss time from WWE programming or whether she will be able to continue appearing without wrestling. The situation had already drawn attention on last week’s SmackDown in Bologna, when Ripley appeared wearing a knee brace.
Ripley took part in a segment with Charlotte Flair, Tiffany Stratton and Jade Cargill, but did not compete. Later in the show, Jade and Michin defeated Charlotte and Stratton in a tag team match.
In the days that followed, fan reports from WWE’s European tour indicated that Ripley was having trouble moving around and may have avoided physical contact at certain points.
It remains to be seen whether the injury will affect her reign as WWE Women’s Champion, especially with Charlotte Flair and Jade Cargill involved in the title picture.
