Roman Reigns will return to the ring for WWE TV after a lengthy hiatus. The reigning World Heavyweight Champion will defend his title against the winner of the Luchadores Tournament on the Sept. 14 episode of Monday Night RAW at Arena CDMX in Mexico City.
Reigns last wrestled on a weekly show on Jan. 6, 2025, during RAW’s Netflix premiere. The OTC defeated Solo Sikoa in a Tribal Combat match, regained the Ula Fala and was once again recognized as Tribal Chief. That will mark 616 days since that night.
Despite his absence from weekly television, Reigns continued competing at WWE’s premium live events. He remains undefeated in 2026 with five wins, taking the Royal Rumble and beating CM Punk at WrestleMania 42, Jacob Fatu at Backlash and Clash in Italy, and Seth Rollins at SummerSlam.

10:11 PM · Aug 2, 2026The title defense against Rollins took place Aug. 2 in Minneapolis. Reigns hit three Spears to retain the World Heavyweight Championship. After the match, both men threw up The Shield’s famous gesture.
Reigns’ challenger will be determined through a tournament announced by AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio. The field will feature top luchadores from RAW, SmackDown and AAA. The tournament kicks off on the Aug. 10 episode of Raw.
The Sept. 14 show closes out a run of WWE and AAA events in Mexico City. SmackDown hits Arena CDMX on Sept. 11, with the second night of TripleMania 34 at the same venue on Sept. 13.
