Steve Maclin’s future in pro wrestling has remained up in the air since he left TNA in June after five years with the company. He has once again spoken about the possibility of working for AEW.
In an interview with TSN, Maclin said he would welcome the chance to work for AEW, in large part because he already has a number of friends in the promotion.
“Yeah, I’m always interested in that end of the world with AEW, especially with my wife there, but then a lot of my friends are also there.”
Among those friends, Maclin named his best friend, Josh Alexander, as well as the Rascalz, who are now in AEW too. He also mentioned the large number of TNA alumni in the promotion and said he has been around much of the AEW roster for a long time.
“There’s dream matchups for me, as well, and if that were to come to fruition and I ended up there, that would be awesome. I would love the opportunity to go out there on AEW Dynamite, Collision, Ring of Honor.”
As previously reported, Maclin and AEW had preliminary contact in July. So far, however, there has been no confirmation of an offer or a deal between the two sides.
Since then, Maclin has moved a little closer to AEW. In early September, he appeared backstage on Dynamite and attacked Adam Copeland in a segment promoting their match at MLP Northern Rising.
Maclin’s wife, Deonna Purrazzo, remains with AEW and currently holds the ROH Women’s Pure Championship.
Copeland and Maclin are set to meet on Friday, October 3, when MLP Northern Rising takes place at the Mattamy Athletic Centre in Toronto.
