Asuka Addresses Lengthy WWE Absence and Departure Rumors

Asuka has once again addressed her WWE future, making it clear that she is still with the company even after nearly five months away from television.

The subject came up on her official X account, where a fan asked whether Asuka had left WWE or was just taking a break.

Asuka replied, “I haven’t left the group. I haven’t quit.”

Her reply comes after months of speculation that began at Backlash on May 9 in Tampa, Florida, where IYO SKY defeated Asuka. After the match, the two embraced in what looked like a farewell.

Later that month, however, Asuka confirmed that she would return to WWE. She explained that, after talking with the company, she went back to Japan to take care of a personal matter.

Fightful Select also reported that Asuka’s absence was planned and had nothing to do with roster cuts. In addition, she was never “asked” to take a pay cut, as other talent were, and she signed a multi-year contract in 2024.

At the time, PWInsider reported that Asuka was still under contract with WWE but would be away for an extended period.

WWE has yet to announce a date for Asuka’s return. In her latest message, however, Asuka herself has again dismissed any suggestion that her time away from television signals an exit from WWE.
