Swerve Strickland is back. The former AEW World Champion made his return on Wednesday’s Dynamite.
The return came during a celebration for the new AEW World Trios Champions, “Hangman” Adam Page and Brodido (Bandido and Brody King). The trio captured the titles last week at Grand Slam Mexico, defeating The Demand (Ricochet, Bishop Kaun, and Toa Liona).
As Page was about to address the crowd, Swerve’s music hit. Strickland walked out alongside Prince Nana and interrupted the celebration. Shortly after, he also came face to face with Ricochet and The Demand.
Swerve targeted Ricochet with most of his trash talk, prompting the former AEW National Champion to charge at him. Bishop Kaun and Toa Liona stepped in and held Ricochet back.
Wednesday marked Swerve’s first appearance on AEW programming since Forbidden Door on June 28, where he lost to Will Ospreay in the main event, the men’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament final.
Behind the scenes, Strickland is still expected to be part of All In.
