Thunder Rosa still hopes to return to the top of the AEW women’s division, though she admits that winning the AEW Women’s World Championship again seems a long way off right now.
Rosa first won the title in March 2022, defeating Britt Baker in a Steel Cage match. Her reign lasted 172 days before an injury ended it.
In a recent interview, Rosa talked about her main goals for the future and made it clear that she still intends to win back the title.
“I definitely would like another opportunity to become the AEW Women’s World Champion. I know right now it seems almost impossible and sometimes unattainable because Mercedes Moné has that title and other people are focused on that.”
The situation Rosa described is tied directly to the current state of the women’s division. Mercedes Moné defeated Willow Nightingale at All In: London on August 30 to win the AEW Women’s World Championship.
While Rosa has her sights set on the AEW title, she is not without gold. On July 31, she beat India Sioux to win the Mexican National Women’s Championship in CMLL, a title she continues to hold.
“Hopefully I get an opportunity to go and get that back because I feel like although I have had chances to do it, I have been very short on my ability to do it.”
