Add as a preferred source on Google Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley opened the July 30 episode of Collision from the Masonic Temple Theatre in Detroit and announced they had signed with AEW, with the “All Elite” graphic hitting the screen moments later. Tony Khan confirmed the deal on X shortly after.
AEW had been pegged as the team’s landing spot since April.
In a new update, Fightful Select noted that sources it spoke to months ago never expected TNA to land the Guns once they hit free agency, figuring AEW would come in with an offer TNA wouldn’t match.
Those same sources said the team is on good terms with TNA, so there’s no heat on that end.
Fightful first reported on April 27 that there would always be a spot for Sabin and Shelley in TNA — where they worked on and off from 2007 until leaving in 2024 — but that people inside the company already expected AEW to be the eventual destination.
WWE released both men on April 24 among the post-WrestleMania 42 cuts, and their 90-day non-competes expired last week. The two teased their next stop in a July 16 video before Thursday’s reveal.
