Add as a preferred source on Google With just one week to go before SummerSlam, WWE still hasn’t booked matches for several of its biggest names ahead of the August 1-2 show at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
The official card currently stands at 11 matches. As Wrestling Noticias previously reported, a source at ESPN indicated the final lineup should land at 12 to 13 matches, leaving room for only one or two more additions.
Among the notable names still missing from the card are Drew McIntyre, Randy Orton, Carmelo Hayes, Jordynne Grace and Alexa Bliss. Also without a match are AJ Lee, Becky Lynch, Bayley, Ilja Dragunov, Je’Von Evans, Nia Jax, Candice LeRae, Johnny Gargano, Kit Wilson and The Miz.
WWE Tag Team Champions R-Truth and Damian Priest are also off the card for now. The duo will face the War Raiders on the final Friday Night SmackDown before SummerSlam, which considerably lowers the odds of another title defense at the premium live event.
Giulia, however, isn’t out of the picture yet. She’ll face Lash Legend next Friday for the final spot in the Ladder Match for the Interim WWE Women’s Championship. Nia Jax has lost both of her qualifying opportunities and has no other announced path onto the card.
Alexa Bliss is a different case. She’s been out of action since Jade Cargill’s attack on July 10 and has said she expects to be recovered within a few weeks, but she hasn’t confirmed any involvement in Minneapolis.
One of the remaining spots should go to Trick Williams and Baron Corbin for the United States Championship, a match that was set up after the latest SmackDown went off the air. WWE has also discussed a World Tag Team Championship defense by Bron Breakker and Austin Theory, though that match isn’t locked in internally yet.
