TNA has denied any involvement in the decision to pull the Leon Slater vs. Liam Slater match from the MyAEW broadcast of the RevPro 14 Year Anniversary Show.
The event took place last Saturday, August 29, at OVO Arena Wembley in London. Leon defeated Liam in a match that aired as scheduled on RevPro On Demand, but the MyAEW broadcast told a different story entirely.
Following FTR’s victory over Cowboy Way for the Undisputed British Tag Team Championship, the MyAEW feed cut to an extended break filled with promotional videos. When the broadcast returned for the Revolution Gauntlet Match, the next bout on the card, the commentators themselves acknowledged that Leon Slater vs. Liam Slater had already taken place.
The discrepancy between the two broadcasts led many fans to point the finger at TNA. However, in an exclusive statement to Wrestling Noticias, Ross Forman, the company’s Vice President of Communications and Public Relations, denied any involvement:
“TNA Wrestling was not involved with that event or match, including fans seeing said match or not seeing it.”
Suspicion around TNA intensified because of what happened in April, when the company pulled Leon Slater from a match against Ricochet and also blocked Nic Nemeth from facing MJF on the independent circuit. Carlos Silva later took responsibility for those decisions, saying he needed to protect the company’s interests.
As of this writing, neither AEW nor RevPro has publicly addressed why the match was specifically removed from the MyAEW broadcast.
