Tony Khan expressed interest in the possible signing of KAIRI, formerly known as Kairi Sane in WWE, by AEW.
The company’s president commented on the matter during the press conference after WrestleDream, held early Sunday morning in Orlando, Florida, while answering a question from journalist Cory Hays.
The statement comes just a few hours after Fightful Select revealed an update on the negotiations. According to the outlet, KAIRI remains unsigned, but continues to hold preliminary talks with AEW. In addition, there is strong interest from Japanese companies in signing her, but those potential negotiations are being affected by the talks with Khan’s company.
When asked directly about the possibility of KAIRI appearing in AEW in the near future, Khan said.
“She’s a fantastic wrestler. I can’t speak to that at this time, but I am very aware and excited to see that she’s a free agent. I think that that’s very interesting, and I’m very intrigued by the possibility of that.”
The situation is also connected to information previously published by Wrestling Notícias in September, when it was revealed that a possible agreement could involve a dual contract, allowing KAIRI to work for two companies.
While her contractual future remains under negotiation, KAIRI already has an announced appearance in the United States. Chris Jericho’s Rock ‘N’ Wrestling Rager at Sea announced her as one of its guests.
