Callum Newman may be headed for a surprise appearance at AEW All In London this Sunday. The former NJPW IWGP Heavyweight Champion strongly hinted that he’ll be at Will Ospreay’s side at Wembley Stadium.
It all started at the RevPro 14 Year Anniversary Show on Saturday at OVO Arena Wembley. Ospreay made a surprise appearance and teamed with Newman, Danny Black, Joe Lando, and Maverick Mayhew to defeat Sha Samuels, Kieron Lacey, Mark Trew, Ricky Knight Jr., and Will Kaven in a 10-Man Tag Team Match.
After the match, Ospreay apologized to Newman for the recent friction between them, reminding him that he was in Newman’s corner when Newman captured the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. He then invited Newman to be in his corner against Kenny Omega at All In.
Newman initially dropped the mic and walked toward the back, but he returned to the ring and embraced Ospreay, signaling that he accepted the invitation.
The history between the two has been one of the bigger stories in wrestling this year. Newman defeated Yota Tsuji at Sakura Genesis to become the youngest world champion in NJPW history, with Ospreay in his corner. His reign ended on June 14 at Dominion, when Tsuji regained the title after 71 days.
Newman has also appeared in AEW. On April 8, he teamed with Ospreay, Francesco Akira, and HENARE to defeat Jon Moxley, PAC, Claudio Castagnoli, and Daniel Garcia in a Chaos in Canada Match on Dynamite.
Since then, the relationship between Newman and Ospreay has hit several rough patches, largely because of Ospreay’s ties to the Death Riders. Newman went as far as calling him a “Death Rider” at Wrestling Dontaku.
