Trick Williams is living his first big moment as a champion on WWE‘s main roster. After winning the United States Championship at WrestleMania 42, the wrestler now wants to turn the title into one of the top attractions on Friday Night SmackDown.
In a recent interview with WIS Sunrise, Williams said his goal is to make the belt “mean something” again, as well as putting the title in bigger spots within WWE programming.
“I want to be in the main events of SmackDown. I want to make this title worth more than it’s been worth before.”

“We’ve got to keep it going, man. We’ve got to make this title right here, this US championship, you know, mean something. I want to main event Smackdowns. I want to make this title, mean more than it’s ever meant before. You know what… pic.twitter.com/WC7MlA0G4k
Williams won the United States Championship by defeating Sami Zayn on Night Two of WrestleMania 42, in Las Vegas. The rivalry between the two continued after the Showcase of Immortals, especially with the involvement of Lil Yachty and the Gingerbread Man in the weekly segments on the blue brand.
At Backlash, held last Saturday in Tampa, Williams defeated Zayn once again and retained the title in his first major defense since winning it. WWE itself treated the match as a direct WrestleMania 42 rematch.
Before reaching the main roster, Trick had already been a two-time NXT Champion, in addition to winning the NXT North American Championship. Now, with the United States Championship in hand, the expectation is that WWE will continue using the wrestler as one of the central names on SmackDown.
