Trick Williams Talks Potential Promo Battle With CM Punk

Trick Williams is closing in on a shot at the Undisputed WWE Championship, and he’s already turning up the heat on current champion CM Punk.

On the July 31 SmackDown, Williams interrupted an interview with Punk and made his intentions clear, declaring he’s coming for the title. Punk said he’d love the matchup and promised a “Whoop That Trick” if Williams actually got the better of him.

In an interview with SHAK Wrestling, Williams was asked about matching up with Punk on the mic.

“CM Punk is one of the greatest of all time. He’s proven that. He had his legendary moments, from talking to trash talking. But you gotta understand, I come from a long, long line of trash talking who’s been passed down from my cells since [I was] a little kid. It’s in my DNA to talk trash like only Trick Williams can. So if CM Punk thinks he’s ready because he has 30 years of wrestling and WWE experience, he has to understand my trash talk goes back for decades and decades, all the way back to times that none of us were born. I’m that level of trash talker.”

Williams is free to chase new goals after dropping the United States Championship to Baron Corbin at SummerSlam and coming up short again in their rematch on the August 7 SmackDown.

One potential path is Money in the Bank. Trick himself has said he’s thinking about the match, set for October 10, 2026, at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.
