R-Truth appears to have escaped something much more serious after getting injured on last Friday’s WWE SmackDown, when he faced Damian Priest.
On Sunday, Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer provided an extremely positive update on the situation. In a post on X, Alvarez shared what little he knows about Truth’s condition.
“Don’t have any details other than Truth appears to be all right and will be evaluated next week. All the best to him on a quick recovery.”
During the match, Truth attempted a missile dropkick from the top rope, but landed badly, hitting his back and head. The referee saw that he could not continue and stopped the match.
According to Fightful Select, the plan was for Priest to win and try to attack Truth after the match, until he was stopped by Fraxiom. The improvised end to the match changed everything, but Axiom and Nathan Frazer went to the ring.
It was the first meeting between Truth and Priest since the end of their partnership in September. At the time, Priest turned heel and attacked his former partner after a loss to the War Raiders.
